Mechanical Stress Relief

The stages of the Vibratory Stress Relief (VSR) process

Isolate from the ground

The workpiece is isolated from the ground and placed on rubber pads.

Vibration Unit – Vibration Sensor

The vibration unit and vibration sensor are attached to the workpiece.

Resonance Analysis

A resonance analysis is performed to determine the resonance frequency of the workpiece.

Mechanical Vibrations

Mechanical vibration is applied for a specific duration at the resonance / subharmonic frequency

Evaluate the effectiveness

At the end of the process, the resonance analysis is repeated, and the results are compared with the initial state to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment.

The KEY PARAMETER

Resonance Frequency

For an effective Vibratory Stress Relief (VSR) application, the resonance frequency of the workpiece must be precisely identified. To achieve this, we utilize 16-bit resolution signal processing technology, which allows us to reach a high level of accuracy.

Forced Vibration Analysis
Frequency Scan : 0 -100 Hz
Acceleration Range : 0 – 20 g

To Evaluate the Effectiveness

The material damping ( hysteretic damping ) reduces when the residual stress relieved. The peak of acceleration
becomes higher and/or the resonant frequency becomes lower if the VSR treatment is effective.

Ease of Application

Stress Relief can be performed on-site at any stage of production using the mobile device Mevit VSR 30.
